In the center of the southern US state of Louisiana, Alexandria International Airport (AEX) is a single terminal facility situated in the England Industrial Park, seven kilometers west of downtown Alexandria. The airport was formerly the England Air Force Base.Despite its name, Alexandria International Airport (AEX) serves domestic US flights only. Flights to the airport operate to and from Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Memphis and Atlanta. Four airlines offer services at the airport: American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Continental Airlines and Northwest Airlines.After arrival, making the trip from the airport into the city of Alexandria can be done via taxi or self-drive rental car. Avis, Budget, Hertz and National all have vehicles for rent from their counters at the airport.Facilities at Alexandria International Airport (AEX) are limited. There is just the one food and beverage outlet located in the airport terminal serving snacks and light meals from 4am until just before the day’s final flight. There are also a few popular restaurants located in the industrial park adjacent to the airport site. The airport also has a lost and found service.While there is no hotel situated on-site, the Park England boutique hotel is located just minutes from Alexandria International Airport (AEX).
