The Algiers Airport (ALG) is located nine miles southeast of Algiers, the capital city of Algeria. There are two terminals both domestic and international with passenger traffic of 4,500,000 each year. The domestic terminal is the hub for the local airline Air Algerie. The signage is in three languages including French and English, which makes finding your way around quite easy. Restaurants abound serving a good range of international cuisine for those wanting to eat and relax. Most of the eating-places offer internet services if required. Other facilities at the Algiers Airport (ALG) include ATMs, duty free shopping, a money exchange kiosk and a prayer room. If your arrival coincides with others, you may have to wait up to an hour to clear immigration, as there are many security checks. Once you have your bags there is easy access to the city center by way of buses, which run every 30 minutes, or by an inexpensive taxi service. Hire cars are available with the major players and some smaller, cheaper operators. Accommodation is not a problem and there are hotels that cater for the budget conscious traveler up to the seeker of five-star luxury. Although the many security checks may be annoying, passengers can feel safe when arriving at the Algiers Airport (ALG).
