Schipol is located about 15 km or 8 miles outside of the city of Amsterdam, so it is quick and easy to reach downtown by car, shuttle or train. Train service is available from the station located underneath the airport and the half-hour trip into town departs five times per hour. The main train station in Amsterdam is centrally located, so the train is a convenient way to get into Amsterdam from Schipol.
