The main airport of the Asturias region of Spain is the Asturias Airport (OVD), which is near the cities of Aviles, Gijon, and Oviedo. Currently the airport handles over 1.5 million passengers each year. There are eight airlines serving the airport, some of which being Air France, Air Europa, Iberia Airlines, and Spanair. Travelers looking for cheap airfare to and from the Asturias Airport (OVD) should check out EasyJet, a low-cost airline, which flies to Geneva and London. The airlines of course fly domestically to Madrid and Barcelona, as well as internationally to Paris, Brussels, and Palma de Mallorca.
Inside the terminal of the airport, passengers can relax at either the café or restaurant or enjoy the duty-free shops. Those arriving for the first time to Asturias might be interested in speaking to the employees of the tourist information booth.
Reaching downtown Asturias or the surrounding cities is very easy by local bus transfer. Right outside of the baggage area there are a number of taxis for transport as well. Of course those looking to be more independent should consider renting a car as there are several car rental agencies, including Avis and Europcar, located at the Asturias Airport (OVD).
