The ease of driving on the fast moving General Ricchieri Expressway is a great introduction to beginning your Buenos Aires driving experience and it is a comfortable 25-mile drive to the downtown area where most hotels are located. If you choose to hire a vehicle after you have checked into your hotel, perhaps for a day trip, then many car rental offices are conveniently located in the downtown area.

Although not necessary in all cases, most rental car companies will prefer you present both your local and an international driver’s license and, of course, a valid passport and credit card is needed. You may not be able to rent a car in Buenos Aires if you are under 25, but some companies will still hire a vehicle to drivers over 21 years.
