Flying into Cape Town International Airport – Gateway to the Cape Winelands

The FIFA 2010 World Cup is to be held in Cape Town and, along with taking the mantle of main tourist destination in Africa over Cairo, is expected to further add to air traffic that has already risen to over 8 million passengers per year in recent years. The Cape Town International Airport is split into five terminals: International Arrivals, International Departures, Domestic Arrivals, Domestic Departures with South African Airways and Domestic Departures for all other airlines. Direct flights to Cape Town International Airport head to select major destinations in Asia, Africa, the United States of America and Europe as well as a host of major cities in South Africa.

Major renovations are expected to be completed by 2015 and enable the airport to cope with passenger traffic of up to 14 million passengers per year. The South African Rail Commuter Corporation is planning to construct a rail link allowing passengers arriving at Cape Town International Airport to reach the city. Taxi and car rental services are also available and the N2 highway will take you to the city centre of Cape Town.
