Flights to Chicago Airports (CHI)

One of the quintessential great American cities, the Chicagoland area is home to renowned sports, food, music and is served by two commercial airports. Each offers distinct advantages to travelers in terms of location, costs, crowds and availability of flights.Chicago’s largest airport is the massive Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) located in the suburbs approximately 16 miles northwest of downtown and the Chicago Loop. O’Hare is one of the world’s busiest airports and is a major hub for the nation’s largest carrier, American Airlines as well as the primary operating base for United Airlines. Nearly all other major domestic airlines as well as dozens of international carriers also offer service here, making nonstop routes available from hundreds of cities worldwide. The facilities can often feel overcrowded and chaotic though it remains a convenient choice for many due to the large amount of available nonstop routes and easy access to the city via the CTA Blue Line elevated train. The smaller Chicago Midway Airport (MDW) offers dozens of domestic routes, mostly via Southwest Airlines who dominates the airport facilities while handful of other carriers operate limited routes to hubs around the U.S. and Canada. The terminal is located approximately 8 miles southwest of downtown and is accessible via the CTA Orange Line elevated train. This airport is viewed primarily as an alternate, less crowded facility and also offers the majority of low-cost flights to Chicago Airports (CHI).
