Coimbatotore airport (CJB) is a small regional airport operating largely domestic services but with a growing International schedule. Silk air and Srilankan connect with Singapore and Colombo and Air Arabia links with Sharjah. Indian domestic airlines connect Coimbatore airport (CJB) to the main cities in India notably Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
The runway is relatively short which restricts the size of planes which can land and take off from the airport, but a promised extension to the runway will accommodate more flights and passengers.
The terminal Coimbatore airport (CJB) is quite well equipped for an airport of this size and has a selection of outlets selling sweets, handicrafts, men’s and women’s wear, books and magazines, tea and music systems. There is a Duty Free shop in the arrivals area (but not in departures). There are several cafeterias and a coffee shop for quick refreshments and snacks in the departure area and an ATM, a foreign exchange counter and a Tourist Information Desk in the arrivals area.
The town of Coimbatore is only 15kms from Coimbatore airport (CJB) and whilst car hire is available most people take a taxi or a bus to get to the city areas.
