Located eight kilometers southwest of downtown, Cork Airport (ORK) is one of Ireland’s major international airports and welcomes flights from all over the British Isles and mainland Europe.
The airport features one large terminal building which was completed in 2006. Facilities at Cork Airport (ORK) include an information counter, currency exchange and other banking services, ATMs, an executive lounge, a book store, duty-free shop, convenience store and a choice of a few bars and restaurants. The entire terminal is very disabled-friendly.
For the short trip into Cork, arriving passengers have the choice of local bus, shuttle coaches, taxis or rental cars. The Bus Eireann service leaves around every half hour from the airport and drops passengers at Cork’s Parnell Place bus station or the city’s main train station. The trip takes around 30 minutes. Further services to other destinations are also available. The Skylink shuttle service also leaves Cork Airport (ORK) every 30 minutes dropping its passengers at many of the city’s hotels, and other downtown locations. Public taxis standby at the rank in front of the terminal and the rental car counters can be found in the Arrivals area.
The most conveniently located accommodation at the airport is the Airport Hotel which can be found right opposite the main terminal building connected to the airport. There is also a Radisson Hotel next to Cork Airport (ORK).
