The Dortmund Airport (DTM) is situated 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) to the east of the city centre of Dortmund in Germany. The maximum capacity of the airport is 2.5 million passengers per year and it is getting close to that maximum with approximately 2.3 million passengers using the airport in 2008. To deal with the increase in passenger traffic the Dortmund Airport (DTM) has plans to extend the runway, increase opening hours, improve motorway connections and expand and improve the terminal building in the near future.
