Dublin Hotels

In recent years, Dublin has become an attractive tourist destination, particularly for travelers on a low budget, thanks to the increased number of discount airline flights to and from England and Europe. Accordingly, Dublin now has more youth hostels and budget hotels than just about anywhere within Ireland or the British Isles. Given that Dublin is a very expensive town, particularly in terms of eating out, saving money on a cheaper hotel might seem like an attractive option. The standard of these less expensive Dublin hotels is generally quite high, in terms of service, cleanliness and comfort, and breakfast is usually included. The downside is that some of the better value hotels are located out of the city center, particularly around the central bus station. However, there are a few situated in or near the Temple Bar district, the hub of Dublinís nightlife.

Mid-range hotels in Dublin are dotted around the city center and near the major transportation spots. These include the usual chains, such as Best Western, Holiday Inn and the Hilton. At the more expensive end, the options include chains like the Radisson and the Four Seasons and a few boutique hotels, such as the Hampton Hotel and the Morgan.

There are also a few places near the airport, which can be convenient if you have an early flight or are just staying in Dublin for a short time. The main tourist office, in St. Andrewís Church in the center of town, can arrange places to stay in Dublin for visitors.

Dublin also has several Bed & Breakfasts, featuring the famed Irish friendliness and hospitality, and of course the famous Irish breakfast. Given that these are usually located in a private home, they tend to be situated outside the center of the city.

If you feel like venturing even further out of town, the hotels and B&Bs in Dublinís suburban areas can make a good base. For example, if you are planning to visit the picturesque town of Howth or the UNESCO-protected tombs of Bru na Boinne, accommodation in the northern suburbs might save a lot of travel in the congested city center. Even if you wish to stay central, the efficient public transport can get you between your hotel and the city center quite easily.
