Many international car rental agencies offer their services in Edmonton, including Hertz, Budget, Thrifty, Enterprise and Avis. Several companies operate kiosks or booths at the parkade Level P1 of the Edmonton International Airport. The parkade is located just across the terminal building.

Various vehicle categories are available, including compact, economy and full-size cars, pick-ups, SUVs, vans, and luxury vehicles. Cars can be rented on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Daily rental rates range from $25 for subcompact or compact vehicles to more than $100 for premium cars or SUVs, including air conditioning, excise tax and vehicle license free. Child boosters and seats should be requested during reservation. Some companies rent out GPS navigation systems for at least $12 per day. Renters who are 21 to 24 years old must pay an additional 15 Canadian dollars (around $14) as a Young Driver Fee.

Rental requirements include a valid international driver's license and a copy of your passport. Remember that most companies prefer payment through credit cards. If you can only pay with cash, agencies will require additional information such as home owner and personal vehicle information, banking and employment contact information and character references. The hassle isn't worth it so it's more convenient to pay via credit card. Also, some companies require renters to present at least two valid IDs during vehicle pickup.
