Fort Leonard Wood Airport (TBN) is also known as Waynesville Regional Airport at Forney Field and is located in Pulaski County, Missouri. It is owned by the US Army, and provides public local flights to Kansas City and St. Louis.
During WWII, it was known as Forney Army Airfield and was used by the United States Army Air Force until 1998. Due to the official nature of the airport, it is handy to have a driver’s license ready for identification purposes.
The small airport is located in an Army Base, so Fort Leonard Wood Airport (TBN) does not have any hotels on its premises, but it is located about 5 miles outside of the town of St. Robert. This town provides a variety of hotels, such as Fairfield Inn, Super 8, Best Western and Econo Lodge. The airport offers long-term parking, and there are agencies on the premises offering car rental services.
There are no restaurants in the airport, so visitors are limited to a small waiting area and a few vending machines. Soldiers/family members who want convenient access to the army base mainly use the airport.
