Some agencies stay open 24 hours a day. There are rental desks located in the arrivals halls in both Terminals 1 and 2 of the airport. Alternatively, you can also rent a car in the city center. One popular spot for this is the Hauptbahnhof, the main railway station, where the desks are open until 9 p.m. during the week and for a slightly shorter time on weekends.
Rental prices vary a great deal, and this is another reason for making your reservation before your arrival in Frankfurt. The best quotes are found online with prepaid, but non-refundable, reservations. Expect to pay between US$280 and US$330 per week for a compact car with manual transmission such as a Ford Fiesta. If you try to rent directly on arrival without a reservation, you may be asked to pay up to twice as much.
To rent a car, you must be at least 21 years of age, present your valid national driving licence and leave a credit card deposit. Always check whether the insurance options are included in the price. These include a damage waiver, in-car navigation system and child seat. | | | | | | |
