Honiara Cheap Flights - HIR

The only international airport in the Solomon Islands, Honiara International Airport (HIR) is located on Guadalcanal Island, eight kilometers east of the Pacific island country’s capital city. The airport was formerly known as Henderson Field Airport.
Visitors can fly direct to Honiara International Airport (HIR) from Pacific cities including Port Moresby, Vila, Nadi, Nauru, and Brisbane, Australia. Solomon Airlines also offers many domestic flights from the airport to other destinations in the island nation.
Getting from the airport into Honiara or to one of the many beach resorts spread around the island can be down via the bus and taxi services that await arriving passengers outside the airport terminal. There are also half a dozen car rental agencies with counters in the Arrivals area.
Other facilities at the airport include retail shops including duty-free, ATMs, currency exchange services, and a small selection of food & beverage options. There is no hotel located at the airport but there are plenty of resorts on the island and a few good choices nearby in Honiara including the Pacific Casino Hotel, the King Solomon Hotel and the Honiara Hotel.
Visitors to the Solomon Islands should note that there is a departure tax payable in cash on departure at Honiara International Airport (HIR).
