Tribhuvan International Airport is relatively modest and easy to navigate in its layout, with one terminal for international flights and one terminal for domestic flights. The international terminal includes a number of restaurants, duty free shops for travelers, and two different business lounges for those luxury travelers who have arrangements with Star Alliance and Thai Airways business and first class clubs.

Flights to Kathmandu arrive from over 20 international countries, and numerous cities worldwide. Most connections are heading to either countries in the Middle East or Asia, though Europe and North American airlines have been known to provide services in the past. For those traveling domestically by air in Nepal, Buddha Air, Agni Air, Cosmic Air, Gorkha Airlines, Nepal Airlines, and Yeti Airlines all operate daily flights out of the domestic terminal. Yeti and Buddha also provide charter flights and mountain flights from time to time, as well as the regular service to cities like Biratnagar, Janakpur, Jumla, Simara, Phaplu, and Rumjatar.
