Flights to Montreal-Mirabel International Airport (YMX)

Montreal-Mirabel International Airport (YMX) is one of the largest airports in the world in terms of area. Mainly used by cargo airlines, the airport is also home to MedEvac and general aviation flights. Additionally, it is being used as a manufacturing base for Bombardier Aerospace.

Also known as Mirabel Airport, Montreal-Mirabel International Airport (YMX) opened in 1975 with the intention that it will replace the existing Dorval Airport as the eastern air gateway to Canada. However, the 1-hour drive to the airport and its lack of transport connections made it unpopular with airlines and travelers, so Dorval was not closed as originally planned. In 2004, passenger airlines finally stopped using this airport.

The terminal was designed by architects Papineau-Gerin-Lajoie and carried over its creator's award-winning Expo 67 Quebec pavilion design. The terminalís simple design made it look like a beautiful huge modern glass box.

The local airlines that initially had flights to Montreal-Mirabel International Airport (YMX) when it opened were Air Canada, Canadian Pacific Airlines, Nordair, as well as carriers from more than 15 countries.

Some of the cargo airlines that still have flights to Montreal-Mirabel International Airport (YMX) are Cargojet Airways, DHL, FedEx, Morningstar Air Express, SkyLink and UPS.
