Places to Stay in Orlando, Home of Mickey Mouse and the Magic

For visitors who choose to stay within the theme parks, transportation is not a concern. However many visitors to Orlando will need to hire a car to allow them to travel easily around the city and its surroundings.

The International Drive area is sometimes called Orlando’s Tourism Corridor as it is the most densely packed with hotels. The Drive has over 100 hotels packed into its 10-miles. Also on this stretch of road are SeaWorld Orlando and a couple of large outlet malls, so it is a popular choice for families. Universal Orlando Resort and Walt Disney World are also very close by, adding to the family appeal.

If day visits to Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando aren’t enough to satisfy you, then you can always stay in the accommodation on-site. There are more than 20 hotels on the Disney site, and they range from the reasonably priced through to the very luxurious. Transportation linking the various theme parks, water parks, recreational facilities and shopping centers within the site is convenient for hotel guests with monorail, bus and boat options available. Just outside the Disney site are dozens more hotels offering a range of services and standards.

Universal Orlando Resort offers a similar, though smaller range of on and off-site accommodation. On-site water taxi transportation services are also on offer to guests.

The Kissimmee area is a stretch of highway full of holiday home rentals. Its close proximity and convenient access to Walt Disney World has also resulted in the arrival of many budget hotels, outlet malls and cheap restaurants.

For visitors wanting an Orlando hotel that does not need to be a short step from the major theme parks, then the downtown and Florida mall areas are logical choices. Apart from the beauty of downtown’s tree-lined streets, the area has become the centre of Orlando’s nightlife scene. It features many popular bars and restaurants, and a number of the major hotel chains have properties in this area. Florida Mall is home to many restaurants and shopping outlets. Orlando’s airport is also close to downtown, and the Hyatt, Hilton and Sheraton Hotels can all be found on the roads heading out towards the airport.
