Renting a Car in Palm Springs:

Get Out and Explore

If you fly into Palm Springs International Airport, there are several car rental agencies at the airport from which you can choose. Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, GoRentals, Hertz, Thrifty and National are all there. If you want to turn your trip into an adventure, try renting a motorcycle from Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Rentals.

Highway 111 and South Palm Canyon Drive are the two major roads in Palm Springs. South Palm Canyon Drive tends to have a lot of traffic and few parking spaces at night and on the weekends, but you may have some luck finding a parking spot on one of the side roads. Highway 111 runs east and west and runs through all of the cities in the Palm Springs area. The road typically has a lot of traffic, so if you are covering a great distance, considering using Interstate 10 instead.

If you’re exploring the area and venturing outside of Palm Springs, it is important to remember that you’re in a desert and take proper precautions. Bring plenty of water for everyone in your car and try to have a blanket or tarp with you to provide shade if your car happens to break down. If you do have car trouble, don’t leave it. Put your hood up to indicate trouble and wait for help to arrive.
