Charles de Gaulle International Airport Welcomes You to Paris

For a cheaper flight to Paris try booking Tuesdays-Thursdays or even during the off-peak winter season. Paris is a bustling city any time of year, and sipping hot chocolate from a cozy café overlooking the Eiffel Tower could provide a perfect winter escape.

There are three airports located in Paris, and the Charles De Gaulle International Airport, also called “Roissy Airport” is one the largest hubs in Europe. Inside are three terminals, the second of which is divided into terminals 2A through 2G, and located in a separate building. All terminals are connected by a free CDG VAL shuttle train except for the newer terminal 2G, which can be reached in fifteen minutes on a complimentary airport shuttle. Navigating around this extremely busy airport can be complicated; however, paying close attention to your terminal locations and allowing enough time for transfers can easily resolve any confusion. The Charles De Gaulle Airport serves most cities worldwide and houses major and budget airlines alike. To reach Paris from the airport, take the RER Commuter train and get to the city in only thirty to forty five minutes. See http://parisbytrain.com/ for information regarding price, schedules, stops on the RER, as well as other Paris trains. The RoissyBus services Central Paris, but due to traffic can take up to an hour and half for travel.

Arriving at the Paris-Orly Airport puts you about forty minutes south of the city, with flight services to North America, Africa, the Caribbean, and cities all over Europe. It is home to only two terminals, South and West, and maintains the busiest domestic traffic. The OrlyBus and privately run JetBus both connect the Paris-Orly Airport to the city, however, the OrlyBus is usually a cheaper option for budget travelers.

The third airport in Paris, Beauvais, is a small regional airport located over an hour north of the city via a shuttle bus. Beauvais is home to low-cost airlines such as RyanAir and BlueAir and has four gates and a small snack bar.

There are a few options for those needing an overnight stay close or even directly adjacent to Charles de Gaulle, from hotels with the ultimate in comfort and design to small rooms suited for the budget traveler. Hotels near the Paris-Orly airport include a mid-priced option for business travelers seeking a transit bed for a good night’s sleep, as well as a less expensive basic hotel with complimentary shuttle service to the airport.
