Paro Cheap Flights - PBH

Paro Airport (PBH) is the only air gateway to the Kingdom of Bhutan. It is located in a steep valley on the bank of the Paro River, surrounded by the 18,000ft-high Himalayan Mountains. The airport is actually considered as “one of the world’s most challenging airports.” A travel magazine once reported that there are only eight pilots in the world who are certified to land here.

The airport is three miles from the city center. It has one runway, one passenger terminal, one cargo terminal and two aircraft hangars. The small terminal has four check-in desks and one gate, which are enough to handle the more than 30,000 passengers that go through this airport each year.

Flights to Paro Airport (PBH) are only allowed under visual meteorological conditions and are restricted to daytime hours (from sunrise to sunset); thus, the earliest flight in arrives only after 8am.

Druk Air, which is Bhutan’s national carrier, offers regular flights from New Delhi, Calcutta, Kathmandu, Bangkok, Dhaka and Rangoon (Myanmar). A Druk Air ticket cannot be purchased without first obtaining a visa. Visa application takes at least three months and is only handled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thimphu.
