There are many car rental agencies scattered throughout Perth, but the most convenient way to pick up a rental car is to do it at the airport. If you fly into Perth Airport, you’ll have several car rental companies from which to choose. Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Redspot and Thrifty all have counters in the airport. You can find them on the ground floors of terminals 1, 2 and 3. Drivers must be at least 21 year old to rent a car in Perth and those younger than 25 or older than 69 should expect to pay an extra fee because of insurance premiums.

Unlike in many of the other major cities in Australia, freeways and highways in Perth have no tolls. And if you’re in the mood to see some of Perth’s beautiful countryside, all you have to do is hop on one of the freeways and you’ll find yourself surrounded by nature in minutes. Keep in mind that traffic in Perth travels on the left side of the road, so those who are used to driving on the right side of the road should plan for a little adjustment period.
