Although the streets outside of the city are unpaved, the main streets in Phnom Penh are usually in fairly good shape. However, side streets tend to have potholes, livestock and the occasional sleeping citizen. It is also difficult to find a street sign on those smaller streets. But the city is well laid out and easy to navigate with a little pre-planning. All of the streets in Phnom Penh are numbered. The streets that run north and south have odd numbers that increase as they go west, and the streets that run west and east have even numbered streets that increase as they go south.

There are several places to rent a motorbike in Phnom Penh throughout the city that offer different models at different rates. It would be best to take an official taxi from the airport to a rental facility where you plan to pick up your motorbike. Enjoy the ride and use caution on the streets!
