 | | Renting a Car in Pittsburgh: Explore a Unique City | | | Those who fly into Pittsburgh International Airport should have no trouble renting a car. Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty all have counters at the airport. They are located at baggage claim in the Landside Terminal and cars can be picked up in the airport’s covered garage. When your trip ends and you’re ready to return the car, the return areas are located in the lower level of the airport garage. Many of these rental companies are represented by locations throughout the city.
Many of the streets in downtown Pittsburgh are narrow and one way, which can be confusing for some visitors. Make sure when you’re on your own that you have a good map. Or for extra convenience, ask the car rental agency if they can provide you with a GPS navigation system. The city is served by three major highways: I-76 is to the north and east, I-79 is to the west and I-70 is to the south. It would also be helpful to familiarize yourself with the belt system. There are five color-coded loops that circle the city and make getting lost difficult. If you find yourself turned around, simply look for one of the loop signs and you’ll be led back to one of the city’s major highways. | | | | | | | | | Compare Cheap Car Rentals Deals | | |
