Landing at San José Cabo International Airport – jetting into sun and sand

The airport has three terminals with four concourses. The terminals are located a fair distance apart but complimentary shuttle services do connect them. The overcrowded Terminal 1 handles pretty much all of the domestic and international flight traffic while some international flights will land and take off via the distant Terminal 3. Terminal 2 is used for charter and cargo flights. While passenger traffic at the airport continues to grow it is already operating beyond its capacity. Dining options in Terminal 1 include a number of fast food and takeaway chains and a few smaller outlets plus a cafeteria. Terminal 3 has a bar and some very over-priced snack food and drink. Other services at the airport include a 24-hour medical clinic, plus ATMs and currency exchange in Terminals 1 and 3.

Taxis wait outside Terminal 3, however they are not cheap. The shuttle services and self-drive car rental are cheaper options, or consider pre-booking a cab. On exiting the terminal, arriving passengers will undoubtedly be hassled by touts offering transport and assistance with luggage. Ignore them. A few car rental companies are located opposite Terminal 1, a couple more have their offices at the highway entrance to the airport and a few more are around 2km away.
