San Pedro Sula Cheap Flights - SAP

The airport handles more international flights than Tegucigalpa’s Toncontin Airport and is also a major domestic hub. It is the airport of choice for many flights to some of Honduras’ prime Mayan sites including the Copán Ruínas, as well as the Bay Islands, Ceiba and other Honduran beach destinations. Flights to San Pedro Sula come from all of the main Central American cities, as well as a number of ports in the USA, Mexico and Europe. Major airlines servicing the airport include American, Continental and TACA.

Despite the amount of international traffic that the airport handles, little or no upgrading has been done to the airport to meet rising demand. The airport’s facilities include a bank, and Internet facilities as well as some shopping and food & beverage outlets, but nothing to write home about.

A number of local and international car rental companies have counters in the Arrivals Hall. Taxis into the city are also waiting. Ignore the touts that will offer to help you before leaving the terminal. There is also a Hedman Alas bus terminal located at the airport for more comfortable bus connections into San Pedro Sula.

Visitors should remember that all passengers leaving on international departures will be hit with a departure tax to fund the long overdue expansion of the airport.
