Flying to Sarasota Airport – gateway to Florida winter holidays

The airport is the most convenient arrival point for visitors to the University of South Florida. Flights to Sarasota Airport come from both domestic ports mostly along the eastern seaboard, plus Toronto. Around 10 airlines fly to the airport. The winter months and leading into spring are the airport’s busiest season with winter holiday-makers flocking to south Florida. The airport has a single terminal on two levels. Facilities available for visitors include information counters, free wi-fi Internet access, ATMs, a mail center, vending machines, and a number of food & beverage outlets (both airside and in the airport’s public areas), and a small business center. Shopping options consist mostly of books, magazines and gifts, and are located on the second floor.

A number of the major car rental chains can be found in the baggage carousel area. Pick-up of the cars is done from across the street. Other transportation options from the airport include buses, which transfer to both Sarasota and Bradenton, and leave from the western end of the building, and authorized taxis which can be found standing by outside the Arrivals Hall. If there are no taxis, the appointed “taxi starter” will assist in getting a car without delay.

There is no hotel located on the airport site but there are a number of options just a short distance away, and they all offer free shuttle services for guests.
