 | | Taipei Car Rentals – To Drive or Not To Drive | | | Rental cars are available at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). Service counters can be found in the passenger arrival lobby. The Terminal 1 counter is open from 9am to midnight and Terminal 2 has a 24 hour service.
Cars may be rented with or without drivers. Visitors wishing to drive themselves need an international driver’s licence, aged between 25 and 65 and have a valid credit card in their name. If you are unfamiliar with driving in downtown Taipei, a driver is strongly advised, as is adding the collision damage waiver and property insurance.
Car seats, fuel costs, taxes and drop fees (picking up at one location and dropping off at another) are not included. Automatic transmissions are very rare, so please reserve a car prior to your arrival if this is a must.
Navigating the central downtown core of Taipei can be most nerve racking so take your time and be careful. There are at least a dozen parking garages, both underground and in parkade structures throughout the city. Many parking garages are adjacent to shopping malls, the university area and the business centers. There are signs in English. | | | | | | |
