The airport is located nine kilometers from the center of the city of Vigo in Galicia province, and is quite a busy facility that can accommodate large aircraft.
While the new terminal was completed in 1995, increased numbers of passengers now mean that further expansion is necessary.
Destinations with non-stop flights to Vigo include Paris, Madrid, Valencia, Tenerife South, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Brussels. However the majority of passengers passing through the airport are alighting from domestic flights.
Ground transportation at Vigo Airport (VGO) includes a choice of car rental agencies, taxis and local buses. Buses pick up passengers from beside the Arrivals gate and run from 6am until 11pm. The travel time for the trip into town is around 15 minutes. Other bus services, operated by Monbus, transfer arriving passengers to more distant destinations.
The airport features a couple of shops selling gifts, toys, stationery, reading materials and music. For hungry travelers there is a café and a cafeteria in the public area that are open all day, and a restaurant open for lunch and dinner only.
