Frederic Chopin Airport (WAW) – Flying into Warsaw

Despite its name, the airport’s former name Okecie airport is still very commonly used, both officially and unofficially. Warsaw Airport has two terminals both welcoming international flights from all over Europe. Both terminals are relatively new, although Terminal 2 only opened in 2008. Most budget airlines use Terminal 1 while the larger Terminal 2 handles most Star Alliance and OneWorld airlines.

Airport facilities include banks, a post office, a number of currency exchange counters, ATMs. F&b and shopping outlets are available throughout Warsaw Airport. There is a combined airport and customs information counter in the departures area of Terminal 1. Wi-fi Internet is available.

Bus lines #175 and #188 depart the airport for downtown Warsaw almost every 10 minutes from before 5am in the morning until around 11pm at night. The N32 line services the airport at night and connects to Warsaw’s central railway station. Tickets can be bought from the driver.

Authorized taxis are not much more expensive than the buses and are found at the rank outside the Arrivals Hall. They can also be booked ahead. For visitors who wish to drive themselves, car rental agencies can be found in the public areas of Terminal 1. Travel time into Warsaw is usually around 25 minutes.

Rail transfers are easily accessible. Okecie railway station is near the airport and transfers passengers into the city. The Falcon Hotel is located on site for transit passengers.
