Be careful not to overdress in a foreign situation. Always do your best to blend in with the locals. Even if you are ethnically different, do your best to act like you belong and know what you are doing. Nothing can ruin your day faster that a pickpocket!

Never, ever use a non government approved taxi anywhere in the world. You don’t know who they are and what the ride will really cost you. In a regular taxi, if the driver has a “friend” in the front with him, wait for the next cab.
Get off the beaten path on that road trip. You are on holiday, right? Then take the back roads to really see the country side. The interstates, intercity express ways and the autobahn are great but lacking is culture. Have lunch at a local village. It’s great! |
